Bonde do Rolê
Bonde do Rolê is a trio from the Brazilian city of Curitiba that mixes 80s and 90s rock samples - from bands like AC/DC and Alice in Chains - to typical baile funk beats. It was formed mid-2005 by DJs / producers Rodrigo Gorky, Pedro D'Eyrot and singer Marina Ribatski. At the end of the same year, after uploading their sounds to MySpace, they started gathering attention from both local and foreign press and producers.

In 2006 the Mad Decent label, fronted by American DJ Diplo, released a
promo CD and a limited-print vinyl containing several of the group's
first hits like "Melô do Tabaco" (lyrics by Alemão UC), "Caldinho"
(lyrics by Cello) and "Jabuticaba". By March, Rolling Stone magazine
featured Bonde in the now famous "10 Bands to Watch" list, in which
they were described as "brazilian party starters". In the following
month the The New York Times newspaper praised the group's work.
Last May the band toured Europe with DJ Diplo. In July, Bonde and Diplo reprised the tour, this time in the United States and Canadá, alongside São Paulo band Cansei de Ser Sexy. Next October they will be back in Europe and then back to Brazil for this year's Tim Festival. It will be their first time live in Rio de Janeiro, home of the baile funk rythm.
